April: New Year is a public holiday when people picnic and throw festive parties. October: Tihar or Diwali is a big five-day Hindu festival of lights when Nepali homes are lit up. Weatherwise: The climate varies in Nepal from cool summers and severe winters in the north to subtropical summers and mild winters in the south. March-April and October-November are prime times to visit for cultural experiences, wildlife and trekking. Most festivals are held then and the weather is clear and pleasant.
