Fiji

Fiji consists of 322 islands, of which 106 are inhabited, the remainder have been left as nature reserves to promote the extreme diversity of the plants and invertebrates: More than 10,000 species, many of which have yet to be studied.

Traditional Fijian tabu approaches coupled with modern conservation methods have allowed vast swathes of ocean to be undisturbed by fishing vessels meaning Fiji’s justifiably renowned Coral Reefs and are among the more diverse and intact in the Pacific Ocean. Commitment from the national governments offers outstanding opportunities for conservation in the face of persistent challenges besetting marine communities everywhere.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
