This magnificent land locked country has dramatic landscapes and some of the best safaris in Africa, not least because the quality of guiding is unrivalled. In recent years its politics have caused many – both residents and tourists – to desert the country but it is finally beginning to show the shoots of recovery and you will receive a huge welcome from its friendly peoples.
Over and above the traditional game drives you can also get more up-close and personal to the wildlife either on foot or canoeing which is a particular highlight. The mighty Zambezi which forms the border to the north is a focal point of this country with the wonderful Victoria Falls in the north west corner of the country, from where the river is squeezed through dramatic gorges into Lake Kariba and then onto Mana Pools where you can enjoy a canoe safari.
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
The best time to travel is between April and June, there is little to no rain and the Falls are at their fullest. These are the winter months therefore temperatures will only peak at around 20°C, although days are clear and bright
