Botswana

Some of the finest safari experiences on the African continent are to be found in Botswana, a magical landscape of pristine eco-systems and a thrilling diversity of game. The Okavango Delta, one of the great natural wonders of the world, with its vast waterways is home to extraordinary wildlife including the elusive leopard and myriad wading birds.

Experience some of the best game-viewing in the country. See the ‘Big Five’ without the crowds. Marvel at the expanse, solitude and proliferation of birdlife and game in the Okavango Delta. Seasonal variations in water levels allow for exploring the Okavango Delta from the water in mokoros, traditional canoes of the region. Explore Chobe National Park, home to some of the largest concentrations of game in Africa, with elephant herds reaching up to 500 individuals. Participate in a rare elephant interaction spending time with semi-habituated elephants at the Living with Elephants Foundation.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

The best time to travel is between March and November when rain fall is at a minimum and the days are cooler but clear. Early mornings and evenings can be chilly. The Delta is normally in flood from May until August. Travel between December and March rewards you with lush green scenery and plenty of animals dropping their young.
